Moon Hotel -> The Intergalactic Construction Company of Earth
Winter 2026ActiveLos Angeles, CA
About
GRU Space is building permanent lunar infrastructure to make humanity interplanetary within our lifetime, starting with the first hotel on the Moon. In just 6 weeks, we built the world's first Moon factory: patent-pending hardware that turns lunar regolith into bricks and inflates modular pressurized habitats designed to withstand lunar temperature and pressure extremes.
Our first mission lands on the Moon in 2027 to demonstrate in-situ brick manufacturing and habitat deployment. A second mission lays the hotel's foundation inside a lunar cave, and a third opens the first lunar hotel, targeted for 2032.
We don’t stop at Moon hotels. GRU’s long-term plan:
1. Build the first hotel on the Moon. GRU solves off‑world surface habitation.
2. Become the Moon Base Company of America: build roads, mass drivers, warehouses, and physical infrastructure.
3. Repeat on Mars and build the first cities there.
4. Own property on the Moon and Mars as these economies grow.
5. Reinvest profits into resource utilization systems on the Moon, Mars, asteroids, and beyond—reaching our final form: Galactic Resource Utilization.
GRU Space is backed by investors in SpaceX and Anduril, is part of Nvidia's Inception program, and our launch generated 1B+ views across 60+ countries, earning invitations to the White House, Senate, and Pentagon.
Active Founders
Skyler Chan
Founder/CEO
Skyler (Founder & CEO) graduated early from Berkeley EECS to make humanity interplanetary in our lifetime. Previously, Skyler built vehicle software @ Tesla, built a NASA funded 3D-printer launched into space, and authored at the world’s largest space conference. Air Force-trained pilot at 16, aspiring astronaut since 3.
In just 6 weeks, GRU Space built the world’s first Moon Factory for under $5,000. GRU’s patent-pending prototype autonomously:
mines lunar soil (regolith)
refines it using a geopolymer process
turns it into structural bricks to build lunar infrastructure GRU has also built a patent-pending modular inflatable habitat designed to withstand the temperature and pressure extremes on the Moon.
Combining with the Moon Factory, it forms the basis of the first lunar hotel, Moon base, and ultimately, permanent lunar infrastructure.
Before GRU, lunar habitats can only be built on Earth. At hundreds of thousands of dollars per kilogram, that makes large-scale lunar bases nearly impossible.
Humanity has not built a product on the Moon yet. At GRU, we are changing that.
As early as next year, GRU will land a small-scale version of their factory & inflatable on the Moon.
Humanity cannot become interplanetary until we solve off-world surface habitation. Once solved, it will become the Promethean moment that will enable billions of human lives to be born on the Moon and Mars.

🌕 About GRU
GRU develops in-situ resource utilization technology, transforming local lunar material into durable building structures. The first habitat is a lunar hotel for space tourists, targeting opening in 2032. From there, GRU aims to lay the foundation for America’s Moon base, future Mars cities, and a truly interplanetary civilization. More in our Whitepaper.
⚙️ The GRU Team
Hey, I’m Skyler, founder of GRU Space. I’ve wanted to fly to space since I was 3, and was an Air Force trained pilot at 16. Realized building technology to enable everyone to go to space felt more meaningful than just enabling myself to go to space, I dove into hardware and software and started my undergrad at Berkeley EECS. I worked on vehicle software at Tesla, built a NASA funded 3D printer that launched into space aboard Virgin Galactic, and authored at the world’s largest space conference (IAC 2025). GRU’s growing early team consists of former Ethos Space CTO and Colorado School of Mines professor Dr. Kevin Cannon (first founding Member of Technical Staff) and Dr. Robert Lillis (Advisor) who was the Principal Investigator of the latest NASA Mars mission that launched on Blue Origin’s New Glenn, **ESCAPADE**.
⭐ GRU’s path to a Trillion Dollar Company:
We don’t stop at Moon hotels. GRU’s Master Plan:
1\. Build the first hotel on the Moon. GRU solves off‑world surface habitation.
2\. Build America’s first Moon base: roads, mass drivers, warehouses, and physical infrastructure.
3\. Repeat on Mars and build the first cities there.
4\. Own property on the Moon and Mars as these economies grow.
5\. Reinvest profits into resource utilization systems on the Moon, Mars, asteroids, and beyond—reaching our final form: Galactic Resource Utilization.
The next trillion-dollar company will be in human infrastructure: building the first cities on the Moon, Mars, and beyond. If we succeed, we will enable billions of human lives to be born.
